Swords were perceived as a weapon that destroys ill power and averts disasters, and the zodiac sign of the tiger was believed to repel ill spirits. Therefore, the strongest symbolic weapon was thought to be a sword named sain-geom (四寅劒, four-tiger sword), or four-tiger sword. Using the Lunar Calendar this sword was produced during the hour of the tiger of the day of the tiger in the month of the tiger in the year of the tiger. One side of the blade bears the name of the sword in silver inlay, and the other side features the Big Dipper in gold inlay.

Samin-geom (參寅劒, triple-tiger sword) was produced at the time when one tiger of the time unit was missing. Its name is inlaid in silver on the handle and the Big Dipper is inlaid in silver on the blade.
