This General Motors Cadillac Limousine which was used by Emperor Sunjong (r.1907-1910) features 7 seats, 31.25 horsepower, an eight-cylinder engine and displacement of 5,153cc. It is thought to be a 1918 model. The body is made of lacquered wood instead of metal, and bears gold plum blossom motifs symbolizing the Imperial Family. Also its interior is covered with gold silk fabric with plum blossom patterns to present the majesty of its owner. The passenger seats are foldable for practical usage of space. Its overall resemblance to a carriage is typical of early automobiles. In 1997, the Office of Cultural Properties, the predecessor of today's Cultural Heritage Administration, and Hyundai Motor Company made an agreement to repair and restore the automobiles of Emperor Sunjong and his consort which took a period of 5 years.
