Wonderful Views of Chongseokjeong Pavilion

This large-scale mural painting decorated the east wall of Huijeongdang Hall in Changdeokgung Palace. Painted by the recognized calligrapher and painter, Haegang KIM Gyujin (1868-1933), this painting describes the scenic view of Chongseokjeong Pavilion with mountain peaks and pine trees as its backdrop. 

Extraordinary Views of Manmulsang, Geumgangsan Mountain

This large-scale mural painting decorated the west wall of Huijeongdang Hall in Changdeokgung Palace. Painted by the recognized calligrapher and painter, Haegang KIM Gyujin (1868-1933), it features the panoramic autumn view of Geumgangsan Mountain. Kim painted "true-view landscapes" of Geumgangsan Mountain. He depicted the autumn view of the mountain layered in deep red leaves and white clouds using an eclectic style that combines traditional court art with modern painting techniques. The Chinese characters on top of the painting read, “Geumgangsan Manmul Choseunggyeong”, literally meaning “the extraordinary views of Manmulsang, Geumgangsan Mountain”. 

Two mural paintings of Geumgangsan Mountain by Kim adorned the east and west walls of the main hall, adjacent to the bedchambers, of Huijeongdang Hall which was reconstructed in 1920 three years after it was burned down due to a fire in Changdeokgung Palace.
